Legend from the past…

When Saint Vincent passed through the Lorraine region, he is said to have stopped in Lucey to admire the well-kept vineyards and also to taste a nice cool glass of well-deserved Vin Gris.
A linnet, the faithful bird companion of wine-growers, came near him and the Saint invited the bird to drink to their health.
As the bird leaned over the capucine, the wooden bottle typical of the Côtes de Toul region, it fell into the wine. Saint Vincent pulled it out straightaway and did not fail to notice a beautiful spot, the colour of Grey Wine, on its throat.

…and today

Since then, the linnet figures proudly on our official seal in souvenir of its encounter with the patron saint of wine-growers. Thus it is quite natural for its name to grace the emblem of the association that takes care of the local Museum of Mixed Farming (Maison Lorraine de Polyculture) in Lucey.
When the Wine-growers Brotherhood  was established in Toul to protect local traditions, the name Compagnons de la Capucine seemed to be the best choice.
