Vinegrowing

In order to make the most of all the natural elements present in the Côtes de Toul , methods of cultivating the vines have greatly improved. Planting used to be dense and low, whereas now it is rather more widely spaced and the vines are allowed to grow higher. Working on them is easier and they profit more from the sunshine.
There are now only 5500 vine-stocks per hectare (2200 per acre).
The method of pruning remains the traditional guyot cut, and the yield is limited by the rules that apply to A.O.C. (controlled origin) wines in France, which is in our case 60 hectolitres per hectare. André and Roland LELIEVRE have decided to limit the production to a maximum of 50 hectolitres per hectare.
